Premium hardwood lump charcoal for the barbecue
Made locally from sustainable sources in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, this lumpwood charcoal is made using traditional methods to produce a premium quality product. Lumpwood charcoal burns faster and hotter than charcoal briquettes, so is perfect for hot and fast cooking, such as searing steak.
This charcoal is a lot lighter than the standard Indonesian charcoal you’ll see in stores – that’s because more of the smoke has been cooked off, leaving a much cleaner burning charcoal, a bit more like binchotan charcoal (high quality Japanese charcoal for hibachi grills), and with less of the strong charcoal flavour found in regular charcoal which hasn’t been processed as thoroughly.
